The Meteoritical Bulletin contains listings of all newly recognized and reclassified meteorites, as accepted by the Nomenclature Committee of the Meteoritical Society.

The Bulletin is published in Meteoritics and Planetary Science. You can also receive e-mail notification when new meteorites are approved for the Bulletin.

The Bulletin section of the website also allows you to submit information on new meteorites, view guidelines for meteorite nomenclature, and for provisional meteorite names in dense collection areas, and naming of Antarctic meteorites. The addresses of institutions, collectors and dealers cited in the Bulletin are also given.

Submissions may be made at any time but will only be reviewed about every 2 months.

All submissions that meet the guidelines of the Nomenclature Committee and the submission policies of the Meteoritical Bulletin will be reviewed approximately ever two months. All names must be approved prior to their publication in abstracts or papers. If you have a publication deadline, submit meteorites names for approval as early as possible to allow the Nomenclature Committee time to do its work. We will do our best to process submissions by your deadline. All submissions prior to deadlines for abstracts to the Lunar and Planetary Science Conference or the Meteoritical Society meetings must be made three weeks prior to the abstract submission deadline. Anything submitted after three weeks prior to the abstract submission date may not be reviewed by the Committee before abstract deadlines. As a result, an abstract may be rejected for noncompliance of the nomenclature policy of the Meteoritical Society.
